Job Description
We’re looking for a rockstar fundraiser to help raise funds for the 2nd annual Oakland Chimaek (Chicken & Beer) Festival. Chimaek is one of the fastest-growing festivals in Oakland and is an amazing ride to be on. The momentum is helping our fundraising efforts, this person will help us seize the moment.
As any Fundraiser knows, this is a key role in making the festival a smashing success. Our ideal candidate cares deeply for their community, has a proven track record in fundraising, and has excellent relationship-building skills. Since we raise funds for small businesses on a regular basis, there’s potential for more work in the future.
What’s the Chimaek Festival?
The Chimaek Festival is a Korean fried chicken & beer festival held annually in May in the Jack London District of Oakland, California. The festival is growing fast in popularity & international support. We already have the support of Jack London’s Economic Development organization. The festival offers a unique picnic-style experience with world-renowned chicken, craft beer, live music, and outdoor games. We are estimating 10,000 attendees, 60+ vendors, 10+ countries represented, and a $250k economic impact on Oakland.
Who Are Build Up HQ & Dokkaebier?
Build Up HQ is the Head Organizer of the event, we make the festival “go”. We are contracted by Dokkaebier, the Event Host. We’re a small group of good-spirited people and invest in Chimaek because of the positive, large-scale economic & social impact Chimaek has on the community.
Dokkaebier is a Korean craft beer company. Their brewery is located in the Jack London District, is one of few Asian-owned craft breweries in the United States, and are big believers in building up the community. Youngwon Lee is the CEO. He’s a good-spirited person too, fun to be around, and believes in bringing people together across all cultures - Chimaek is his way to do this.
Job Responsibilities
Identify and manage potential corporate sponsors and non-profit partners for financial support and in-kind donations
Be creative and manage a multi-channel fundraising campaign through email, phone, in-person, events, and crowdfunding
Negotiate sponsorship packages and benefits to create mutually beneficial partnerships
Maintain an updated database of potential financial providers
Qualifications
Proven experience in fundraising, preferably for community events or festivals
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent written & spoken communication skills
Excellent relationship-building skills
Excellent negotiating skills

Time Commitment: 8-10 hrs/wk until May 2024 (or, the raise is complete)
1099 Contractor
100% Remote, Bay Area preferred
